Not only is oil the best way to thoroughly remove sunscreen and makeup, (especially waterproof mascara), it's also much more effective than traditional cleansers for getting gunk out of your pores.

It is quite common to avoid oil-based products if your skin is oily, but this is a mistake as oily skin produces more oil as a defence mechanism to balance out loss of moisture and is often a sign of a damaged skin barrier.

Like attracts like and using oil-based products will dissolve grease and makeup without stripping the skin; always double-cleanse when removing make up and sunscreen and follow with another cleanser of your choice to remove all traces of oil.

Mix with kaolin or rhassoul clay to make a gentle facial scrub or use salt and/or sugar - blend in your palm or a small pot.
